Madico SafetyShield Window Films Explained

What Are Safety and Security Window Films?

Safety and security window films are thick polyester films bonded to glass surfaces with a strong pressure-sensitive adhesive. Unlike standard glass, which shatters into sharp, dangerous shards on impact, glass treated with a safety film holds together — significantly reducing the risk of injury to building occupants.

Madico SafetyShield — The Technology

Madico SafetyShield films are engineered with a multi-layer polyester construction and a high-performance acrylic adhesive system. When glass breaks, the film creates a membrane that holds the fragments in place, preventing the glass from becoming a projectile.

SafetyShield 800 vs SafetyShield 400

The SafetyShield 800 is Madico's premium 8-mil film and is specified for high-risk applications including banks, government buildings, schools and embassies. The SafetyShield 400 is a 4-mil film suitable for moderate-risk environments including residential properties and small commercial buildings.

Applications in Kenya

In Kenya, SafetyShield films are widely used in banks, shopping malls, hotels, hospitals, schools and high-value residential properties. Esenem Solutions has installed SafetyShield films on hundreds of thousands of square metres of glazing across Kenya.
